Discover paintings, sculptures and architectural spaces inspired by the Christian Faith. In celebration of the World Meeting of Families and Pope Francis’s visit to Philadelphia, this self-guided walking tour introduces you to several of the Museum’s most beautiful and moving images of Christian faith from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, with a particular emphasis on depictions of Saint Francis of Assisi (c. 1181–1226).Pope Francis is the first pope from the Americas and the first non-European pope in more than 1200 years. He chose his name in honor of Saint Francis, who renounced his wealth for a life of service. Like Saint Francis, Pope Francis has been commended for his commitment to the plight of those less fortunate. You can get more information at http://www.philamuseum.org/calendarEvents/624-538.html
